June 2020 : Free mask initiative to improve the safety for both Practitioner and Patient

Over the next months of Lockdown there is going to be a lot more freedom of movement for citizens.

With the increased freedom of movement there may be an increase in infections – certainly the daily stats of new infections seem to be growing.

The virus is considered highly infectious and providers work closely with members visiting their practice.

Providers need to insist on strict hygiene protocols in their practice. For your own protection and that of your patient, PPN recommends that you wear a face mask when consulting. Please make sure that you wear the face mask and dispose of it correctly after each consultation.

PPN covers +/- 22 % of the medical aid market and made the decision to allocate their network providers a free disposable face mask per claim submitted for either a spectacle or contact lens optical benefit to PPN.

PPN intends to provide free disposable masks for the balance of this year or until a vaccine becomes available, should that happen prior to year-end.

Providers may order more disposable masks to cover the balance of their needs.
